Introduction
Coronary atherosclerosis is more prevalent among
diabetic than non-diabetic patients. In addition in
diabetic patients it is more extensive and takes an
accelerated course.1-3 The reported prevalence of
diabetes among patients undergoing coronary artery
bypass grafting (CABG) ranges from 7% to 20%.1.4.5
Diabetes mellitus is an established risk factor for the
development of coronary artery disease.
