INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS

TheJournalofBangladeshCollegeofPhysicianand Surgeons, ensured quick processing quality publication (quarterly publication) of articles in all areasofthemedicalscience.TheJournalwelcomes submission of manuscripts that meet the general criteriaofsignificanceandscientificexcellence.

Papers must be submitted with the declaration that theyhavenotbeenpublishedelsewhere(exceptinthe formofanabstractoraspartofapublished lecture, review, or thesis) and are not currently under consideration by another journalpublisher.

How to submit your paper

Manuscript submission

Paperswritten in English, are considered for publication.Electronicsubmissionofmanuscriptsis stronglyencouraged, providedthatthetext,tables,and figures are included in a single Microsoft Wordfile (preferably in Arialfont).

Submit manuscripts as e-mail attachment to the editorial office at: journal bcpsHemail.com.

TheJournalofBangladeshCollegeofPhysiciansand Surgeonswillonlyacceptmanuscriptssubmittedas e-mailattachmentsortriplicateHardcopywithasoft copy.

Ifahard/printedcopyofthemanuscriptissubmitted, sendtherequirednumberofcopiesofthemanuscript and figures; they are all needed for peer reviewand editing, and the editorial office staff cannot be expected to make the requiredcopies.

Editorial Policies

Allsubmittedmanuscriptsaresubjecttoscrutinyby the Editor in-chief or any member of the Editorial Board. Manuscripts containing materials without sufficientscientificvalueandofapriorityissue,ornot fulfilling the requirement for publication may be rejected or it may be sent back to the author(s) for resubmission with necessary modifications to suit one of the submission categories. Manuscriptsfulfilling therequirementsandfoundsuitableforconsideration are sent for peerreview.

Thejournalstrivestoreturnreviewers’commentsto authors within 3 weeks. The editorial board will re-review manuscripts that are accepted pending revision.

Submissions, found suitable for publication by the reviewer, may need revision/ modifications before being finally accepted. Editorial Board finally decides upon the publish ability of the reviewed and revised/modified submission. Only an acknowledgment from the editorial office establishes the date of receipt officially.

Proof of accepted manuscript may be sent to the authors,andshouldbecorrectedandreturnedtothe editorial office within one week if requested. No addition to the manuscript at this stage will be accepted. All accepted manuscripts are edited according to theJournal’s style and policy.

Submission of a manuscript for publication implies the transfer of the copyright from the author to the publisher upon acceptance. Accepted manuscripts become the permanent property of the Journal of BangladeshCollegeofPhysiciansandSurgeonsand maynotbereproducedbyanymeansinwholeorin partwithoutthewrittenconsentofthepublisher.

Ethical aspect of the study will be very critically consideredatthetimeofassessmentofthemanuscript.

Any manuscript that includes table, illustration or photograph that have been published earlier should accompany a letter of permission forre-publication

from the author(s) of the publication and editor/publisheroftheJournalwhereitwaspublished earlier. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain permissiontoreproduceillustrations,tablesetc.from otherpublications.

Permission of the patients and/or their families to reproducephotographsofthepatientswhereidentity is not disguised should be sent with themanuscript. Otherwisetheidentitywillbeblackenedout.

Type of papers published

Five types of manuscripts may be submitted:

Editorials: It will be preferably written by invited experts only and usually covers a single topic of contemporary interest.

Original Articles: These should describe new and carefully confirmed findings, and study design and methodshouldbegiveninsufficientdetailforothers toverifythework.Thelengthofafullpapershouldbe the minimum required to describe and interpret the workclearly.

Short Communications: A Short Communication is suitableforpublishingtheresultsofcompletesmall investigations or giving details of new models or hypotheses, innovative methods, techniques, images in clinical practice, letter to editors, short reports or apparatus. The style of main sections needs not to confront to that of original article. Short communications should be no longer than 2 to 4 printedpages(about6to12manuscript pages).

Reviews: Submissions of reviews and perspectives covering topics of current interest are welcome and encouraged. Reviews should be concise and nolonger than4to6printedpages(about12to18manuscript pages).Itshould befocused andmustbeuptodate. Reviews are alsopeer-reviewed.

First submission to the JBCPS should include

Case Reports: This should cover uncommon and/or interesting cases with appropriate confirmation process.

Cover letter

The cover letter should include the corresponding author’sfulladdressandtelephone/faxnumbersand shouldbeinane-mailmessagesenttotheeditor,with the file, whose name should begin with the first author’s surname, as anattachment.

Authors and contributors

Designatedauthorsshouldmeetallfourcriteriafor authorship in  the  ICMJE  Recommendations (http.//www.icmje.org)

Allauthors,andallcontributors(includingmedical writers and editors), should specify theirindividual contributions at the end of thetext

Preparation of manuscript

Criteria:Informationprovidedinthemanuscriptare importantandlikelytobeofinteresttoaninternational readership.

Preparation:

1. Manuscript should be written in English and typedononesideofA4(290x2l0cm)sizewhite paper.
2. Marginshouldbe5cmfortheheaderand2.5cm for theremainder.
3. Font size should be 12 inArial.
