Summary:
A prospective study of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein level of
motor neuron disease (MND) patients was carried out in
Medicine Department of Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka
and Sher-e-Bangla Medical College, Barisal. The duration of
study was from July 1, 2000 to December 31, 2002. One hundred
forty MND patients between 25 to 82 years were studied. Among
them 89 were male and 51 were female. The mean age (with SD)
of the patients was 53.12(±13.94) years (male 54.90(±12.32) and
female 53.40(±14.52)). Clinical typing showed 67 (47.85%) had
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), 58 (41.42%) had
