Suicide is among the ten leading cause of death in most
countries and the second most common cause of death
in young people1 .Men commit suicide more than four
times as often as women. Women however are four
times more likely to attempt suicide than men.
Common methods of suicide among men are firearms,
hanging, jumping from high places in comparison to
women who use drugs, poison etc. However the most
common method of suicide is hanging2. Presence of
mental disorder is one of the strongest risk factor in
suicidal attempt and suicidal death3,4. Indeed
psychological autopsy studies suggest that more than
90% of people who die by suicide have a diagnosable
mental disorder5.Though mental disorder is associated
with an eleven fold increase in the risk of suicide but
the risk is not uniformed overtime3.
